Incense and Health
Sometimes they ask me whether incense is good for your health. My answer is no, and the reasoning is fairly obvious: you probably know a smoker among yout friends or family. Have a look at the walls and the ceilings in her or his house. Probably a bit browny. And with incense it is unfortunately not different: you are burning things and soot is emitted, always. Making bamboo incense sticks

The bamboo incense stick has conquered the world. It is easy in use and almost unbreakable. On the other side, it is a little harder to make it: the incense powder has to be very fine, and it takes a little handyness to make them. However, children from 9 years old are capable to make such sticks. Another small disadvantage of incense sticks with a bamboo core is that they spread the scent of burnt bamboo. More.........

The Tibetan method of making incense sticks is very much suited to work with somewhat coarser components, like dried herbs. The diameter can vary from half a milimeter to more then a centimeter. When you are busy with incense, undoubtedly you will become confronted with products from the rainforest. Components

Learn about the  natural and sometimes artificial components of incense. Our far ancestors only used components they could find in nature. For example Frankincense, Myrrh, Benzoin and Mastic. These substances have a little bit more attention at this site,  although the modern ones are certainly not neglected  More..................

Perception

Our sense of smell plays an important role,  of course. Did you ever learn that your  nasal organ can become locked.  Sometimes you want to drink a scent, so good is it.  But don't go  straight above it with your nose, but try to catch a small fragment.  Also the truth about feromones, don't let them make you crazy, because we have lost your sensory organ for feromones almost completely. Oud'h

The all time best incense scent is undoubtedly Aloeswood. The Arabs call it Oud'h (ood). It is a very rare product and it comes from trees that have been died of old age after they have been infected by a fungus sort. It comes from south east Asia. The Japanese have elevated Aloeswood to a ritual, the Koh-Do ceremony, which can in status be compared with the tea ceremony. In the holy sanctum in Mecca they burn, guess what, Aloeswood.
